Armed with
knowledge of creatures and mother nature's tendencies, Landsford
Canal Superintendent Al James is an icon along the Catawba River,
which separates Chester and Lancaster counties in the Piedmont region
of South Carolina. When a friend from the coast presented James with
a sack of bones, found scattered on the earth, he took it upon
himself to reassemble the pieces. Using no images or instructions, he
crafted the bones back into their original form, an osprey, or raptor
that dwells along rivers like The Catawba.
